Hainan holds forum on high-quality film development

The Hainan Free Trade Port Film Industry High-quality Development Forum was held on Dec 17, gathering experts to share insights and opinions on topics such as film mechanism construction, technological empowerment, and the synergy between culture, tourism, and film.

Wang Zhonglei, co-founder, vice chairman and CEO of Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, pointed out that while the scale of Hainan's film companies is expanding, there is still a lack of representative leading film enterprises. Current challenges, such as talent shortage and incomplete industry chains, were also discussed.

Wang suggested that Hainan should focus on policies, talent cultivation, and industry chains. Efforts should be made to accelerate the construction of a world-class industrial system and a top-notch domestic film and television base. It is important to establish a standardized and professional filming service system, explore a distinctive development model for Hainan's film industry, and utilize platforms like the Hainan Island International Film Festival to facilitate international exchanges.

"To achieve high-quality development in the film industry, we need to emphasize technological innovation and promote scientific achievement applications in film production. We also need to leverage technology to empower every aspect of filming, production, and screening," said Huang Fei, general manager of Hainan Film Co and vice president of the Hainan Film Association.

Huang stated that the Hainan Free Trade Port Film and Television Service Center is still under construction, and that it will become an industrial platform that integrates comprehensive film and television services. It will connect resources from both domestic and international film industry chains to provide a full industry chain service where filmmakers can come with scripts and leave with finished films.
