5th HIIFF opened with film-themed concert

The opening ceremony and the film-themed concert of the fifth Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF), jointly organized by China Media Group and the People's Government of Hainan Province, were held in Sanya on Dec 16.

The concert was divided into three chapters: "Youth," "Sunshine," and "Blossom". They featured numerous theme songs and music from various films. The concert invited the chairman of the Golden Coconut Awards' judging panel and members of the feature film judging panel to share behind-the-scenes stories of the awards and to promote the nominated feature films, documentary films and short films.

This year's Golden Coconut Awards received a total of 4,018 film submissions from around the world. Among the many entries, 12 feature films, four documentary films, and eight short films stood out and made it to the final selection.
